The first four weeks

What actually happens when you start

No guesswork about the opening month. Each week has one clear job.

  1. Week 1

    Assessment

A relaxed conversation about goals, history and schedule, then simple movement checks to find your starting loads.

  2. Week 2

    Base block

Core patterns: squat, hinge, push, pull and carry. We focus on position and rhythm before adding weight.

  3. Week 3

    Progression

Loads rise in small steps you can feel. You get a short plan for any sessions done on your own.

  4. Week 4

    Review

We look back at the month together, agree what worked and set the focus for the next block.

A note from your coach

Consistency beats intensity

I'm Mara, and I run Ash Garden as a small, calm studio. Most people don't need harder workouts. They need a plan that fits their week and a coach who notices when something needs changing.

Sessions are structured, unhurried and explained as we go, so you understand why each exercise is there.

Bring

Before you book

Questions people ask first

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. The first week exists to find your starting point, whatever it is. Loads and exercises are chosen for you, not for a template.

Can I train with an old injury?

Often, yes. Tell us about it in the enquiry. If you are under a physio's care we work within their guidance, and we'll suggest checking with a clinician when something needs assessment first.

How long is each session?

Fifty minutes: a short warm-up, the main strength work, accessory exercises and a brief cool-down. Pair sessions run to the same length.

How many sessions a week should I book?

Two is a good start for most people. Three suits those with a specific goal and time to recover. We'll recommend a number after the assessment.

Do you give nutrition advice?

We cover general habits that support training, such as protein, hydration and sleep. For detailed dietary plans or medical needs, we'll point you to a registered dietitian.

What if I need to cancel?

Give at least 24 hours' notice and the session can be moved within the same block. Later changes are handled case by case.
